Insulin clears the blood of glucose and pushes it into the cells. Each cell of the human body has insulin receptors. If you eat alot of carbohydrates and sugars, they generate alot of glucose which means that your body begins to generate alot of insulin to deal with all of the excess glucose. You could have six or seven times the amount of necessary insulin in your body. If you continue to eat an excess amount of carbohydrates and sugar your body eventually becomes unable to manufacture enough insulin to deal with all of the glucose in the blood stream so the levels of glucose climb up.
If you change your diet from a glucose based diet to a fat based diet which is the optimum diet for human health you will go into a state of ketosis and your body will begin to use ketones to fuel itself. If you have high ketone levels in your blood stream this is a reliable indicator that your insulin levels are low which is an indicator of health. You can easily measure your ketone levels in your own home by either testing your blood, breath or urine. If your ketosis level is .1 or over this is a sure indicator that your insulin is now under control. Too much insulin in your blood stream stops you from burning fat. When your insulin is low your body starts burning fat, your sleep improves, your energy levels will increase and you will lose excess weight.
